I had the great privilege of throwing a SURPRISE 60th birthday party for my mom last week, along with my sister and three of her closest friends! It might have been one of the most enjoyable parties I have done. To see the pure delight and surprise/shock on my mom's face just brought me to tears! Out of anyone I know, this lady deserved the best party I could throw! My mom has been through so much adversity and challenges in her life, yet she always rises to the top (and usually with a great big smile to go with it!). I am so proud to call her my mother, my friend, and grandmother to my children. For those of you who have been privileged to meet her or know her, you know she loves to laugh and have a good time! She might have one of the most recognisable laughs out of anyone I know! She is such a hard worker and can do just about anything she puts her mind to. Joe loves it because he has a father-in- law and mother- in- law rolled into one! Not many mother-in-laws crawl on their bellies under the house to help you wire the phone lines! It is quite impressive!
I have always admired my mom for great strength through trials. She has taught me well to trust the Lord and to keep going. Her faithful devotion to care for my Dad when he was sick was indescribable. Her love, acts of service, and forgiveness are traits that I hope are evident in my life and ones that I desire to pass on to my children.
The night was spent in wonderful company of many of Mom's friends. It was so fun to see friends who have known her through different stages of her life. We celebrated her life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, teacher, leader, caregiver, grandmother...with "Cyntinis", dinner, some "Cyntrivia", a slideshow capturing her life through the years, meaninful and witty toasts, a delicious Edgars butterfinger cheesecake, and presents...I think I want to turn 60!
Mom, I love you from the bottom of my heart. I am a better person from having you in my life. Here is to a wonderful 60 years and may you have another 60 to go!
"May the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you;the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace." Numbers 6:24-25
