Here are my boys hard at work on Friday!
It took lots of dirt...top soil, peat moss, and compost!
I am always impressed with what Joe can build!
Noah loves to help Daddy and use the tools!
Here is the final product of Joe's handiwork! I love the little copper post caps! Great job babe!
Saturday we started off the morning planting a variety of vegetables. We planted tomatoes, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, red and green bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, green beans and a strawberry plant! We planted some marigolds throughout in hopes to help with the cucumber beetles and add some color! To make the square foot plots, Joe measured off the squares and nailed down nails and tied string around each one. Then you plant your vegetables according to each plot. This site helped so much by letting you plot your garden, makes a grid for you, and gives you all the tips on what vegetables (fruit, herbs) you are planting as well as how many per sq. foot! SO helpful!
We also planted seeds in these neat pots that you plant right into the ground. The kids helped me do this two weekends ago and it has been really neat to see them grow! We also put seeds right into the ground so I am anxious to see the difference between all three ways of planting.
Our first little Lovekamp garden! The kids have been super excited to see the plants grow! I feel pretty giddy myself!
I also decided to start our first herb garden. I saw a neat picture online and thought I would try it out on the fence. I planted cilantro, oregano, and sweet basil.
I would really encourage anyone to start a garden. It has already been a great experience for us as a family. I hear squeals of delight and "Mama, come quick, YOU'VE GOT TO SEE THIS!!!" Happy Gardening!
