Tuesday marked a HUGE day for us! Noah told his beloved paci's bye- bye! GULP...
The story goes a little something like this... I found this book called Bye- Bye Pacifier at the Dollar Spot in Target (don't you just love that place?!) so I thought I would give it a try. I mean, it was a dollar! So after I picked Noah up from school, we read it together. The book talks about a little boy putting his paci in an envelope and his Mommy is going to give it to a baby that needs it. I asked Noah if he wanted to do it, and he said yes! He was very excited! I found a big white envelope and we went to his bed and gathered up all the paci's...5 of them! (we are all obsessed) I had the idea to "mail" them so that the mailman would get the blame and not me!!! So we "mailed" them off with great excitement! Then it was nap time...yikes! He immediately asked for his paci and I told him that they were in the mailbox and the mailman was going to take them to the babies all over the world that needed them!!! A little extreme I know, but tyring to work the situation! After some crying and comforting, he fell asleep for a short nap. After his nap, we went to the mailbox to see that they were indeed gone! The "mailman" had left Noah a piece of chocolate! Now, wasn't that nice?!!!
It has been a bit rough for the little guy (and who are we kidding, us too! the paci is our go to!)! We have had to stay with him until he falls asleep and then sneak out of the room! The first night he actually slept through the whole night with no problems! Then last night, it took an hour at least to get him down and then he woke around 4 crying. He did great for his nap today. He asked for it and I told him that the mailman had them (he's going to be bitter towards the postal service) He only cried for 5-10 minutes and then he was quiet and took a great nap! Praises! So, we'll see how the night goes! We are determined to stick to it and just go for it! We are after all, totally to blame for the obsession, but you learn from your mistakes...right?!

I asked Meryt if she thought she might like to give her paci to a baby that needs it. Her response "Mommy, baby no need my paci! It bwoke!" (I cut the tip off a few weeks ago thinking that would make it less appealing) I even told her that we'd let the mail man take it to a baby that needed it and she just continued to say "No, Mommy. My paci." We're going to have to go cold turkey.
I am going to have to remember that when Logan has to get rid of his! He has alot of them too. What a great idea, though. And I love the chocolate idea, what a great "mailman".
Way to go girl! He is growing up to be such a big boy! It was great to catch up with you the other day!
We might just have to try that. In a few more months. ha
It's my comfort too though.
Great idea...I hope it continues to go well. Um...see my problem is going to be that I can't cut off Carter's thumb and put it in the mail! :) Yikes!
Yeah...i'm like Sue...can't cut off the thumb and mail it away. Don't know what we are going to do about that. I'm glad life with no paci seems to be going okay and he is sleeping better. I bet he will totally forget about paci in no time! I do hope he will hold no hard feelings towards the postal service though! I saw those books at target...great deal!
Susie,
Hello stranger! I was so thrilled to find your blog! I'm new to the whole "blogging" world. I found yours through another blog and just wanted to say hello. I got a new AXO directory in the mail and it has made me wonder how everyone is doing. I know we saw one another at a cheer reunion a few years back. I would love to stay in touch with you. Your family is beautiful! You look great, too! Send me your email address when you have a chance.....mine is bthrasher15@comcast.net
We live in Tuscaloosa and have 3 boys now!!! Andrew is 6, Hudson is 4 and new baby William was born Oct. 23. We have been so blessed! I would love to catch up with you when you have a chance. Take care and I hope to hear from you really soon!
Love,
Jennifer Vaughn Thrasher :)
SO proud of ya'll! I can only imagine what a challenge that must be. I've thought many times about one day having to face that very thing, considering the paci is our go-to as well. Yicks!! I'm thankful we have a little time before crossing that bridge, but I'm also thankful for your idea of totally leaving the postal service to blame. Genious!!! Hope it continues to go well!!!
That is HILARIOUS! Good thinking Mommy! Love you and can't wait to see you next month!
